First World Scout Jamboree held in London

The first World Scout Jamboree was held in London in July and August of 1920 and brought together Scouts from many parts of the world. Rather than being based at a single campsite, Scouts camped in parks across London and in surrounding areas, while the main Jamboree events were centred on Olympia Stadium. At the time, the Olympia event was not widely regarded as the “First World Jamboree,” as there had been earlier international Scout gatherings, some of which may have been of a similar scale.

In the years that followed, World Scout Jamborees were held every few years in countries around the world, with many thousands of Scouts camping together at a single site.
