Inverleith District merges with Haymarket to become Craigalmond

In 2008, the Scottish Scout Council undertook a major reorganisation, reducing the number of Areas and creating eight larger Regions to cover the whole of Scotland.

As part of this change, Edinburgh amalgamated with East Lothian and the Scottish Borders to form the South East Scotland Region, effective from 1 April 2012. Inverleith District became part of this new region, and the Edinburgh Area, as it had long been known, formally ceased to exist.
