First Midlothian and Edinburgh Boy Scout Rally

The first Midlothian and Edinburgh Boy Scout Rally was a historic occasion in the development of Scouting in Scotland. Held at Parkside Recreation Ground, situated off Dalkeith Road and nestled under the shadow of Arthur’s Seat, the event brought together more than 1,000 Scouts for a day of celebration, camaraderie, and demonstration of Scout skills.

Troops from across the Midlothian and Edinburgh districts took part, joined by the Sea Scouts from Bo’ness, creating a vibrant display of youthful enthusiasm and discipline. The rally was held under the command of Sir Henry Dundas, the Commissioner for Scotland, whose leadership helped unite the many local groups under the shared ideals of Scouting.
