The Advance Party Report is published

The Advance Party Report, published in 1966, was a major review of Scouting in the UK aimed at modernising the movement.

It recommended new sections, including Venture Scouts for teenagers, updated programmes focused on adventure, skills, and community service, and more flexible leadership and uniforms.

The report also paved the way for girls to join Venture Scouts from 1967. While initially controversial, its reforms reshaped Scouting, making it more relevant to young people while maintaining its core values of service, personal development, and adventure.
